Building collective leadership among women is one of our primary objectives. We believe that this can empower women to access their rights and entitlements for dignified living. We so far have 1090 women beedi workers and 742 other Muslim and Dalit women as members in Davanagere district through Neralu Beedi Workers’ Union and Dalit & Muslim Mahila Okkoota. We continue to strengthen the collectives and engage with more women through capacity building workshops, campaigns, local area meetings, field worker visits and have them be part of the collective. We have seen second line leadership slowly emerging in these collectives.
